Welcome to the LOONE Planning App! This is a tool intended to help managers of Lake
Okeechobee and its canals better plan how much water to release seasonally from the
lake while considering water quality criteria.
Key tool features:
- Estimates of year-in-advance water quantity and quality conditions
- Selection of key lake conditions (hydrological outlook, lake start levels)
- Considerations of lake physical and operational constraints
How to use the app:
-
The user interface displays two columns of information. Input parameters are
modified on the left, scenario results appear on the plots on the right. To setup
the desire scenario conditions, simply select the expected rainfall for the year
(dry, average, wet), lake initial water level (14-16 ft) and provide the
desired/expected discharges out to the Caloosahatchee and St. Lucie canals.
Once the desired set of conditions are entered, the model can be run (submit
button on the lower right) and simulations results will appear on the right columns
within a few minutes. Results are presented for the lake itself, as well as
discharges to Caloosahatchee and St. Lucie canals. Each plots includes several
times series of water quantity, nitrogen, phosphorus, and chlorophyll-a. Plots are
customizable and downloadable.
-
Hover over the input plots to reveal additional controls for zooming and panning.
-
Click on a trace in the legend of any output plot to hide or show it.
